Firing on all cylinders, Billy. Who gets credit and who gets blamed seems to be a universal obsession with Democrats and Republicans.

Whatever one thinks about Ms. Sinema's policy preferences, she knows a lot about governing. Would that some of that might have rubbed off on party members who mistake controlling for governing.

Great piece, Billy, and I couldn't agree more. Cooler heads in the Democratic Party should have defended Simena after the censure, and the way that she was basically forced out of her seat tells us a lot about the party (and the ill effects of partisan primaries).

The trouble with the filibuster is the need for a supermajority in the Senate to get bills passed. I am not a historian on Senate rules but I can remember when a filibuster was done with endless speeches. Now without 60 votes in this polarized, political time the majority of what citizens want gets sent to the trash heap. I walked neighborhoods with my family for Sinema. She was a hard worker, “smart as a whip” (Joe Biden) helped pass much of Biden’s agenda. There was an issue with her public perception, hair color, clothing, jewelry and the infamous thumbs down on the minimum wage vote, not meeting with constituents to name a few. I have deep respect for her hard work but she may be better positioned in a cabinet position. She has also positioned herself well for a private sector position. I wish she would come out and endorse Harris/Walz but we haven’t heard much from her lately. Good luck to her.

Kyrsten Sinema will continue to have my respect if she stays out of it.
